Managing Trustee
A. Peter Anand Raj, MA, M.Ed., Managing Trustee of Serve India Charitable Trust, brings the voice and eyes of human dignity to the process of alleviating Indian poverty. Peter Anand Raj, once an international teacher working for international schools abroad, took his aptitude for teaching and combined it with his deep values of human respect and integrity to create a new kind of philanthropy. Peter Anand Raj calls this form of philanthropy Serve India. What's different about this from the old way of looking at philanthropy is its focus on helping the poor become self-sufficient and improve their own lives. In other words, it applies the principles of capitalism with a soulful, human heart. "Our aim in investing is not to seek high returns but rather to jump-start the creation of enterprises that improve the ability of the poor to live with dignity," according to him.
Mr. Peter Anand Raj has an M.A. and M.Ed. in English. He has 14 years of teaching experience in India and abroad and held top positions in various institutions. Though he reached high positions in his career, his all-time interest was to enhance the quality of the Indian community, who have been oppressed and belong to the vulnerable group.
Inspired by the words of the scripture Philippians 2:4 - "Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others," he has dedicated his life to charity since 2002, joining hands with his Bishop Heber College mates and formally registering as Serve India Charitable Trust in January 2020. Peter Anand Raj aims to eliminate the roadblocks to the social and economic development of the less advantaged section of society and remove the social divide by providing them access to resources and facilities.
He leads the planning and execution of social activities of the Serve India Charitable Trust. Serve India, under his able guidance and direction, has won several awards and recognition for its initiatives. His passion is to improve the living situations and the quality of education for individuals and families by analyzing the environment, relationships, systems, and policies that impact their lives. His high empathy and excellent management skills from various platforms as an administrator in various countries made him the Managing Trustee of Serve India Charitable Trust.
